Workshop for Young Composers

Sunday 18 June 2017, 2.30 - 4.30pm

Recital Room, West Road Concert Hall, Cambridge

Do you enjoy composing music? Would you like to get help with your compositions and learn more about composing techniques?

This interactive workshop, run by Cambridge Youth Music, is designed for young people of 17 years and under. It will be of particular interest to those intending to enter this year’s Cambridge Young Composer of the Year Competition. This year the competition will be open to young people living in Hertfordshire as well as Cambridgeshire - and children from Herts are therefore very welcome to attend the composing workshop.

Led by composer Ewan Campbell the workshop will provide:

  • General guidance on a range of composing techniques
  • Advice on composing for the instruments to be used for this year’s Cambridge Young Composer of the Year competition
  • Full details of the 2017/18 competition, including announcement of the competition brief
