Icarus at the Edge of Time - 5.30pm Performance

What if Icarus travelled not to the sun but to a black hole? This 40-minute full orchestral work is a mesmerizing adaptation of Icarus at the Edge of Time by Brian Greene. This re-imagining of the Greek myth, which brings Einstein’s concepts of relativity to visceral, emotional life, features an original score by Philip Glass, script by Greene and David Henry Hwang, and film created and directed by Al + Al. Commissioned and produced by World Science Festival (New York) and Southbank Centre (London) with the Royal Society. Performed by Cambridge University Musical Society Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Ben Glassberg and featuring Professor Carolin Crawford from the Institute of Astronomy.
